Yellow Horse Handmade
ARTISAN NAME: Nancy Edmonds
CREATIONS: Unique bags made from upcycled/repurposed materials:
designer fabric samples & leftovers from FabMo
soft leather from discarded jackets
worn-in, vintage horse tack and belts
trinkets and found treasures for decorations
ARTISAN STATEMENT: When my horse Gracie stepped on a nail and was in the hospital and layup for 6 weeks, I needed another hobby to fill my time. As a retired graphic designer, I missed being creative, so I dusted off my 50-year-old sewing machine and decided to make a tote bag. I fell in love with bag making: there are so many possible shapes, types of materials and embellishments to use. Being a horse person, I started using broken reins and tack for straps, and soft leather from jackets I get at thrift stores.
CONNECTION TO FABMO: A friend connected me to FabMo, a treasure trove of creative materials. Their fabrics are leftovers and discontinued samples from interior designers, so every bag I make is unique. I count on FabMo to spark my creativity.
