ARTIST’S STATEMENT: At this year’s Artisan’s Market, I plan to bring a variety of animal friends made from colorful and fuzzy textiles sourced from FabMo. Get ready for some cute hedgehogs, bunnies, dogs, whales, geese, fluffy sheep, even Highland cows - and more! Most of my animals are made with the help of a vintage, hand crank Singer sewing machine and a good amount of hand sewing, but I will also have a small collection of one-off knit animals made from FabMo yarn.

CONNECTION TO FABMO: I started volunteering at FabMo last year, and could not have been happier to discover such a perfect, local resource for creative projects. The best thing about treasure hunting at FabMo is how it has changed my view of the various materials I encounter. A scrap of soft green velvet can turn into a frog. Small squares of wool fabric can become a sheep. Helping FabMo with its mission to reduce textile waste while also creating something nice out of the materials that have been saved is immensely satisfying.
